This first idea comes from the blog Less-Than-Perfect Life of Bliss. They are clothes pins with the first initial of each child's name. I made mine from cardstock, washi tape, and glitter thickers. You pin them up on your car visor. As long as the kids are good helpers, their pins stay up. If they are fighting or whining then their pins come down. In our case, if their pin was down, they missed out on getting their next present. They could earn their pin back by being a really, really good helper. Only one time in 4 trips has one of the kids not had their pin up in time for a present. They worked really hard to keep their pins up. This makes the drive much more pleasant.
The next idea comes from Kids Activities Blog. It is a pulley system. You use a rope and loop it through the ceiling handles of your car. Add a basket to your rope and you have made your own pulley system. It is imperative that you use a spooky felt basket to transport your goods. Frankenstein is ideal but if you don't have Franky, you could do a ghost or something. It won't look as cool but it will still work.
The last idea is a gem. It is from All Things Simple. At first I thought it was a bit overboard but after trying it the first time, I was sold! You basically just pack your child's entire outfit for the day in a gallon sized ziplock bag. I also packed all the jammies in one ziplock bag as well. This is especially helpful if you have kids who like pulling every single thing out of their suitcases while they pick what they want to wear.
So that is it my friends! Hope these tips have helped! If any of you have some traveling ideas or tips for me, send them my way!
I use ziploks for travel all the time - helps to keep the contents of my bag in order!
