I am still working on our Easter shelf/mantel and one of the things I wanted to put on it was a birds nest. I have been keeping my eye out for a nest at the stores but have not found one
A nest shaped like a pumpkin! Wahoo! I found a nest!! I removed the stem and pulled the hole just a tiny bigger. It looked great. Now I needed to find some mini eggs for it. I might have contemplated using some of these for a split milisecond...
but quickly aroused myself from that moment of lunacy. Cadbury Mini Eggs are not to be wasted so frivilously.
I needed a new idea so I came up with the following: Mini foil paper wrapped mod podge eggs. Here is a little tutorial on how I made the mini eggs.
First, start with a small section of tin foil.
Roll the foil into a ball. Roll the ball on a flat surface to smooth it out and give it an egg shape.
Gather your supplies-Mod Podge and paper. I used an page from an old book.
You don't need much paper since the eggs are so small. I used two strips, one ripped in half.
Using a foam brush, cover the egg with Mod Podge and put a layer of Mod Podge on the paper strip.
Wrap the paper around the middle of the egg. Proceed to wrap the two small sections around the ends.
I made a little drying rack for the eggs by breaking a toothpick into thirds and sticking it into a piece of Styrofoam.
Once dry, add them to your nest!
My Easter shelf is almost done. Two more things left to do and then I can show it off!
