Leah Top Pillowcase Dress


Have you ever done a Sew-Along with Jess from Cratiness is not Optional? I have always wanted to but the "make your own pattern part" has kept me from trying. When Jess posted this Chrysanthemum Top (renamed the Leah Tunic) I was wishing in my heart that she would do a tutorial or sew-along.  She must have read my comments been in tune with my wishes because along came... the Leah Tunic Sew-Along. YAY!!! I was going to do it. This time I really would.  I am proud to say that I did it! The pattern part was not so bad after all.


I used a pillowcase that I picked up from the store for $1.00.


I chose to make mine into a dress instead of a tunic because I loved that blue green strip at the bottom. I thought it would be darling as the bottom of a dress.


Here is the front and the back of the dress. I am in love with the button closure. It is so easy to make!

    I love it! you're right, that cute strip on the bottom is perfect for a dress! So glad you sewed along!

    So cute! The only thing I've ever done with a pillowcase is to cut holes in it for my son to wear as a biblical costume! Great job!

    I just bought a gorgeous pillow case today for a buck. I love Jess from Craftiness, but your post really makes me want to make the Leah Tunic (in dress form) now! Love being inspired!
