We celebrated my daughter's fourth birthday today. I decided that we weren't going to throw a friends party this year but would just celebrate with family. The only problem was that I decided that after I had already let her pick what kind of party she wanted to have. So we went forward with her pick of a Barbie Princess and the Popstar party but I focused my efforts on just the cake... or should I say cakes.
This was a first time for me to do one (or two!) of these Barbie Wondermold cakes from Wilton but I am so happy with how they turned out. It was fun to design and decorate them. I used regular box cakes and the Wilton buttercream frosting recipe. The popstar cake which was the purple one was a chocolate cake and the pink princess cake was a yellow cake.
The guests also took home jelly bean "gardenias" which were inspired by the diamond gardenia flowers from the movie and a bag of pink or purple white chocolate flavored popcorn. It took some work getting the cakes decorated but all in all it felt pretty low key compared to some of the other parties we have done here on the crazy express.

Love them! My daughter just turned 4 a few weeks ago, and we had a doll cake too. This year she wanted a mermaid, but I'm hoping to get to decorate a dress someday. Thanks for sharing! :)
